Chef Ashley is a Connecticut native who throughout her career has had the privilege of working at several renowned establishments, most recently as the executive chef at Millwright’s in Simsbury for the past 5 years.

 

A passionate advocate for New England’s rich agriculture, Chef Ashley takes pride in incorporating local, seasonal ingredients into her globally inspired menu at The Laurel.

 

She is excited to share her love of diverse cuisines and craft shareable, thoughtfully composed dishes that highlight the best of both local and international flavors.

Rebekah Flagg General Manager Owner

The Laurel is the third restaurant where Rebekah is proud to collaborate with and work alongside her wife, Ashley. Passionate about leading by example, Rebekah is deeply committed to remaining hands- on in all aspects of the business. She even took the reins designing the restaurant’s interior ensuring every detail reflects her personal touch and vision.

 

Now serving as The Laurel's Private Event Director, she finds fulfillment in being an integral part of guests celebratory moments and making them all the more unforgettable.

Abraham has been working in the hospitality industry for more than 15 years. A native of Peru, you may recognize him from many of the most renowned bars and restaurants in the Hartford area.

 

He has a soft spot for Latin and Asian style cocktails, often marrying ingredients and flavors from both regions.

 

Additionally, he is a self-proclaimed mezcal enthusiast, talented watercolorist, and cat lover.

Evelin Henninger AGM

Evelin began her journey in hospitality at just 16, working across a wide range of service roles from a senior living facility, where she first discovered the importance of thoughtful, attentive service, to a fine dining restaurant where she previously worked under Chef Ashley and alongside Rebekah.

Evelin brings not only a wealth of experience, but also her greatest strength: a meticulous attention to detail.

 

Outside of work, she finds joy in caring for her ever-growing collection of plants and spending time with her two beloved cats.

Savannah, an East Hartford native and the oldest of three, brings heart, curiosity, and drive into the kitchen. Her passion for food is deeply influenced by her travels, family traditions, shared meals with friends, and new experiences. Her uplifting energy, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence shine through in everything she does.

 

While early in her culinary career, she’s excited to continue growing alongside her team while showcasing how food can connect people, tell stories, and create lasting memories.

Kyia Kline

Executive Sous Chef

Kyia is constantly seeking refinement in her skills and is eager to support her colleagues in the kitchen with her knowledge and artistic attention to detail. 

 

While born and raised in Pennsylvania, Kyia’s culinary journey began while she was residing in the Florida gulf coast pursuing fine art. She has always had a passion for the arts and culture around her. She quickly embraced her curiosity for the culinary world while in Florida and never stopped. She found community, diverse culture, and a new creative outlet in the kitchen. Quickly finding herself wanting to grow her knowledge around food and people as much as possible.
